In September 1973, I moved to Budapest (Hungary) where
I first learned Hungarian language, and then studied mathematics
at Eötvös Loránd University Budapest (ELTE).
After an intermediate stay in East-Germany and the wedding
with Zsuzsanna Markó in 1979, I returned to Budapest
in 1980, where I became a member of Tibor Braun’s staff
at the Library of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
In 1990, I started a nomadic life. Between 1990 and 1997,
I spent three years at several German research institutions
in Konstanz, Bielefeld, Berlin and Frankfurt (Oder).
In 1998 my wife and I finally settled in Perbál (Hungary).
However, four years later we moved to Leuven (Belgium) where
I became a staff member of the Steunpunt O&O Statistieken
(since 2007 Steunpunt O&O Indicatoren).
The above picture, taken by my wife in spring 2003, shows
me in our former home in the Old Slaughterhouse of Leuven
that has been completely rebuilt into a modern apartment house
in 1995. In 2006 we moved to Heverlee, a suburb of Leuven;
our new home is located close to the Heverlee wood.
